Utrish

2013-2014

The award-winning series of staged photographs is a visual interpretation of mythological stories from the Old Testament. The shootings were produced in Utrish national park, on the northern shores of the Black Sea, that has been a favorite spot for nudists since the 1960s and in Crimea. Vacationers from the nudist camps were invited as models.

Nudism scene was frowned upon by Soviet society, but there was a resurgence in naturist clubs and beaches after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The series got awarded by World Press Photo in 2014 and was exhibited in forty five countries.
