Artist in the Studio
collab with Ksenia Kadi
Ever wondered what an artist channeling in the studio looks like? This spatial cinematic experience gives a unique opportunity to witness Nikita Shokhov’s ideation process.
The artist’s hologram invites the audience to virtually explore his studio in Brooklyn at the moment of creative conceptualization of his new artwork about the human condition in modern technology: quantum computing, machine learning, and human genome editing.
You can read fragments of the dialogue with the artist’s higher self or the artist’s unconscious.
You find yourself in a true-scale Metaverse version of the artist’s studio at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) artist residency, studio #202, Bushwick, New York, 2023.
For the best experience, watch it spatially: use a mobile device and switch to AR mode.
Premiered at the metaverse show Quantum Critic at Myymälä2 Gallery, Helsinki, Finland.

by Myymälä2 Gallery, Helsinki, Finland
Quantum Critic is a three year project that supports artistic exchange between Finland, Russia, the Baltics, and Ukraine. The project brings together artists who all share the same passion for expressing their ideas, feelings, and conceptual frameworks in their artistic practice and who continue to work in difficult times and situations.
Traditionally the third exhibition consisted of two parts. One was held in the amazing pop up space of Bock House on Senate Square and presented real art pieces by 16 artists, the other was virtual. Myymälä2 in collaboration with Aacoop collective from Thailand launched a groundbreaking contemporary art metaverse exhibition hosted on Spatial.io. The project marked a pioneering achievement incorporating gamification principles and a fresh perspective on exhibition spaces.
