This is an AR application for mobile devices that allows the audience members to participate in queer performances in their personal spaces. The purpose of this work is to challenge the perception of space familiar to the audience through the prism of queerness. This is a fusion of the brand new immersive medium with the queer phenomenology of Sara Ahmed and the philosophy of Judith Butler. With the help of three-dimensional visuals, this work comprehends the notion of disorientation of a queer person in the patriarchal system and celebrates the performative essence of queerness.
We invite queer performers, artists, writers, thinkers, activists who actively express their identity and mindset in their creative activities. We want to give them the opportunity to present themselves to a wide international audience through the poetics of augmented reality and documentary video holograms.
The project was initiated by cisgender practitioners - Nikita Shokhov, artist and filmmaker, in collaboration with computer scientists in the field of 3D interfaces Yuan Li and Feiyu Lu.
